Fires in the Foggy Forest
As the major project for a GIS class, I decided to study the size of fires in primary and secondary growth redwood forests. I chose to focus my study on the southern portion of the coastal redwood range. Historic wildfire data was collected from the Cal Fire Department's data collections, and a recent map of California's coastal redwood range was borrowed from the Humboldt State Library archives. All of the data was georeferenced and geoprocessed.
